TEXAS HISTORY 4TH AND 7TH GRADE TEACHER CONTEST RULES
The teacher applicant should prepare an application that includes the following information:
(1) Cover Sheet should include:
§ Teacher’s name
§ Name of School, School District, and City
§ Name of Principal
§ “Daughters of the Republic of Texas”
§ The Sponsoring DRT Chapter and City: Alamo Mission Chapter, San Antonio, District VII
§ Chapter contact person and telephone number: Dr. Sharon Skrobarcek (210) 651-5767
(2) Letters of recommendations, limit of three (3), one (1) page each
(3) Teacher applicant’s vita/resume
(4) Applicant should submit his/her thoughts about teaching Texas history, manner of instructions in the
classroom, innovations conceived and executed for seventh and/or fourth graders, and response of students. This
should be typed on 8 ½ by 11-inch paper.
Submission: The application and essay should be submitted to Dr. Sharon Skrobarcek, 9606 Meadow Rue, San Antonio, TX
78266, no later than January 31, 2008.
Awards: The City winning 4th grade and 7th grade teachers will be invited to attend the DRT Convention to be held in May,
2008, in Tyler. The teacher and a guest
(1) Will be guests of the DRT at the Historical Evening Dinner. Any other expenses incurred by the teachers attending
this event will be the teacher’s responsibility. The state winners will also receive a monetary award of $700 and a
plaque and dinner for two.
(2) The awards will be presented by the 5th Vice President General.
The School of the state winning teachers will each receive $1,000.
